10.03.2013 - Schneider Electric Recalls APC Surge Protectors



View Alert related news. This recall involves APC 7 and 8 series SurgeArrest surge protectors manufactured before 2003. The model and serial numbers are located on a label on the bottom of the surge protector. The two numbers that follow the first letter or letters in the serial number sequence indicate the year of manufacture. The unit is included in the recall if the numbers are 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 00, 01 or 02. APC and the words Personal, Professional, Performance or Network are printed on the surge protectors. The following model numbers are included in this recall.

10.30.2008 - Lithium-Ion Batteries used in Hewlett-Packard, Toshiba and Dell Notebook Computers Recall



View Alert related news. Approximately 100,000 Lithium-Ion Batteries used in Hewlett-Packard, Toshiba and Dell Notebook Computers have been recalled. Battery cells we manufactured by Sony Energy Devices Corporation, of Japan. There have been 19 reports of the batteries overheating, including 17 reports of flames/fire (10 resulting in minor property damage). Two consumers experienced minor burns.

View Alert related news. Recently, Sony became aware of a potential issue affecting the following notebook PC models: VGN-TZ100 series, VGN-TZ200 series, VGN-TZ300 series, VGN-TZ2000 series. The issue involves a small number of units which may overheat due to a wiring problem. 09.04.2008 - Sony Recalls Thousands of Vaio PCs Over Burn Risk

Although most recent notebook recalls have been due to the overheating of the notebook's lithium-ion batteries, the Sony recall is due to "irregularly positioned wires near the computer's hinge and/or a dislodged screw inside the hinge [that] can cause a short circuit and overheating," the CPSC said. "This poses a burn hazard to consumers."

03.01.2007 - Lenovo recalls approximately 100,000 batteries used in ThinkPad notebook computers



View Alert related news. On March 1, 2007, Lenovo voluntarily recalled certain 208,000 9-cell lithium-ion batteries, after receiving reports of the Sanyo-built batteries overheating. These batteries were manufactured for use with ThinkPad notebook computers that shipped worldwide between November 2005 and February 2007.

10.23.2006 - Fujitsu recalls approximately 287,000 notebook batteries manufacturered by Sony

Fujitsu is voluntarily participating in a battery recall program announced by Sony Corporation and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on October 23, 2006, under which all affected users will receive replacement batteries and the affected batteries must be returned to Fujitsu, all at Fujitsu's expense. Some of the Sony-supplied batteries used in Fujitsu notebook computers manufactured between June 2005 and October 2006 that were sold in the United States qualify for the program, and additionally Fujitsu will replace certain affected batteries that may have been sold in Canada. Collectively, the replacement of affected batteries in the United States and Canada is called the Fujitsu Battery Exchange Program.

09.21.2006 - Toshiba recalls approximately 340,000 laptop batteries with cells manufactured by Sony.

Toshiba Corp. is recalling 340,000 laptop batteries made by Sony Corp. because of problems with recharging them, the latest in a string of embarrassing defects and production glitches for Sony. The recall affects 100,000 batteries for laptops sold in the United States, 45,000 in Japan, and the remainder in other parts of the world, Toshiba spokesman Keisuke Omori said yesterday, declining to quantify the number of problems reported by customers. The defect is not directly related to the problem behind last month's recall of Sony laptop batteries by Dell Inc. and Apple Computer Inc., which cited concerns the batteries could overheat and catch fire.

Apple has determined that certain lithium-ion batteries containing cells manufactured by Sony Corporation of Japan pose a safety risk that may result in overheating under rare circumstances. The affected batteries were sold worldwide from October 2003 through August 2006 for use with the following notebook computers: 12-inch iBook G4, 12-inch PowerBook G4 and 15-inch PowerBook G4.

In cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, on October 14, 2005, HP announced a worldwide voluntary recall and replacement program for approximately 135,000 battery packs used in certain HP notebooks. HP customers affected by this program will be eligible to receive a replacement battery pack for each verified, affected, recalled battery pack at no cost.

04.21.2005 - Defective ElbyCDIO layer fixed in SlySoft/Elaborate bytes products



View Alert related news. Elaborate Bytes AG has updated ElbyCDIO layer, because former version had defect in it. Because of that SlySoft has released new versions from AnyDVD, CloneCD, CloneDVD and Virtual CloneDrive, which all use ElbyCDIO. These releases aren't currently made official, but they are freely downloadable from SlySoft.
